Velvet Lagman, a 36-year old executive assistant was recently announced as the very first AirAsia Best Travel Photographer 2015. The said photo contest was organized by AirAsia, the leading and largest low-cost carrier in Asia, and Think Dharma Inc., the exclusive distributor of Nikon Digital Cameras, in partnership with AirAsia BIG which is AirAsia’s global loyalty programme.
As the grand champion, Velvet took home a Nikon D5500 with 18mm-55mm lens kit and 100,000 AirAsia BIG points. Velvet’s mentor Adam Lee, a Malaysian Photojournalist, wasn’t able to join Velvet but left her a video message.

Velvet and 3 other contestants namely Sarah Gacia, TJ Nepomuceno III, and Paul Delfin separately conquered places in Asia for one week which started July 21 and were tasked to capture unforgettable moments in different catergories such as: landscape, food, portrait, architecture and travel.
Each contestant were guided by their own mentors who were highly acclaimed photographers from the Philippines and Malaysia namely George Tapan, Raymond Cruz, Parc Cruz and Adam Lee. Chosen photo entries of each contestants for the different categories were uploaded at www.airsiatravelphotogrpher.com and online voting was opened to public from August 20 and ended on September 5, 2015.
AirAsia and Nikon chose some lucky voters online and were awarded with AirAsia BIG Points plus goodies from Nikon. One lucky voter, Mia Celindro, will receive 100,000 AirAsia BIG Points and a Nikon 1 J5 camera.
