ASUS ZenFone Live Review

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live Review

I read once in an article online that live streaming is the “future of social media”. I definitely, agree. As you may notice in Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media platform apps in your smartphone, they already added a “live” option for you to share what’s happening or doing as of the moment.

Live streaming is very helpful for me as a blogger because I can instantly share live moments whenever I’m in an event, or whenever I’m out on a travel. Going live online helps me connect to my audience locally and around the world real-time.(friends/family/followers/brands). There are some issues though like internet connection(here in the Philippines? tell me about it?!) and of course my facial looks- oily face due to scorching heat, zit problems and other blemishes that I can’t really hide whenever i’m live on a camera.

Thankfully, ASUS launched a new smartphone called ASUS Zenfone Live, the world’s 1st smartphone with Live Beautification feature. Will tell you more about it later.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewJust recently, I received a very cute media box from ASUS Philippines called the Beauty Live Kit. I was one of the 30 bloggers in the Philippines who got this exclusive package. Thanks again ASUS!

Please be advised that the Beauty Live kit is intended only for the media/bloggers. All items in the box(except of course the ZenFone Live unit) are not included when you purchase ZenFone Live in stores.

So what’s inside the box?

  • Review Guide
  • ASUS Mini Tripod
  • ZenFone Live stickers
  • ASUS Lolliflash
  • 2 Pieces of mirror
  • 1 Unit of ZenFone Live smartphone.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live Review I will be concentrating primarily on the ASUS ZenFone Live smartphone and it’s features. I’m so excited to share with you my review and thoughts about this phone.

Again, for the unboxing part. When you purchase a ZenFone Live, it comes with the following(please see photo above):

  • ASUS ZenFone Live unit
  • User manual
  • ASUS Warranty Information Form
  • Wall Charger
  • USB Cable
  • Earphones

Now, I will share with you the physical looks, features and review as per my actual usage of the ASUS ZenFone Live.

Super love the premium-crafted metallic finish. It gave the phone a very sophisticated and classy look.  I’ve got the Rose Pink color, perfect for a modern chick like me. 🙂 It is also available in Shimmer Gold and Navy Black color.

Size does matter! The size of the phone is just right for my hand. I love the feel, it’s not too big and not small either. It’s very slim(2.33mm slim bezel) and very comfortable to grip, plus it is so lightweight(120g). I really never had a hard time holding it because of its curvy edge.

On the other hand, Asus ZenFone Live is powered by a 2650mAh Li-ion non-removable battery that can last 24 hours talk time on 3G-if fully charged. Compared to other smartphones with the same size as ZenFone Live, you would notice that it has high capacity battery for it’s physical size. Therefore, more photos to take, more time for calls, games, surfing the net and live streaming. 🙂

How about sim slots?. This smartphone can hold 2 sim cards in its compact body. That’s 2 mobile networks working at the same time. For other connectivity specs, please read below:

  • Wi-fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Wi-fi direct
  • Miracast
  • Hotspot
  • Bluetooth V4.0
  • LTE Cat. 4
  • GPS/AGPS/Glonass

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewVisual and hardware. The ZenFone Live has a 5-inch HD(1280×720) IPS display and runs on Android 6.0 with ZenUI 3.5. Manning the performance is the Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core Processor. As you can see in the photo above, it has a nice display of colors and the performance is quite impressive so far. Yes, so far, because I still need to test how the performance would be if the memory is quite loaded. By the way, it has 2GB RAM, with 16GB ROM(the one i’m using). Also available in 32GB ROM. You can also use a MicroSD card up to 128GB SDXC for expanded memory, plus you have a free 100GB Google drive space where you can store your files for 2 years.

As of the moment(with minimal apps and files), no lags, the interface is user-friendly, and it’s easy to navigate.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewFor sound output, this smartphone features a super-loud FIVE MAGNET speaker to make your songs and video sounds louder and clearer. It also has a built-in support, the DTS Headphone:X 7.1 for surround sound. In fairness, It does have a very nice and clear audio output. Love it!.Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live Review

One of the big factors when buying a smartphone is the camera. ZenFone Live has 13MP Pixel Master rear camera with single LED flash for natural skin tone effect. It captures on f/2.0 aperture using 5P lens. Please see above 3 photos to see photo quality. The camera was set to Auto when I took these photos. The rear camera can take decent photos in good lighting conditions. When it comes to focusing, the rear cam is kinda slow to adjust.

The rear cam has 11 camera modes that you can choose from which can help you set up effects photos for different subjects and scenarios.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewThe front camera. Perfect for the selfie generation today. ZenFone Live has super large 1.4 pixels that improve its sensitivity to light by up to 400% compared to other standard phones with smaller pixels. With that, you can actually take decent selfie photos even in low light conditions. It’s wide 82-degree field of view can also make a wider angle for groupie shots. Lastly, it also has a soft light LED selfie flash to aid some light on dark-lit locations.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewAnd the most exciting part that I would like to share with you. The Asus ZenFone Live Beauty Live App. This will bring your live streaming experience to the next level. With this app, there’s no need to retouch your make up to hide the blemishes because this app will do the work. Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewLivestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live Review Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live Review What I like about the Asus ZenFone Live Beauty Live app is that you can actually adjust the beautification level while you are doing the live stream. 0 for normal and 10 is the highest beauty level. Please see the above photos for comparison.

For me around level 4 up to level 6 is just fine. When you reach level 10 your face would really look so smooth, it’s not natural looking anymore. Unless of course you have a lot of blemishes.

Watch my sample live stream video here:

Unfortunately, the clarity of the live stream video would depend on the internet connection. So If you would notice my sample live stream video, there are a lot of pixelated moments-due to poor internet. And with that, viewers will not be able to appreciate the live beautification feature unless of course the internet connection gets better.

Take note, Beauty Live app is exclusively available only in Asus ZenFone Live phones.

If you would notice the sound quality in my live video, even if i had a lot of background noise, you could still hear me clearly. I’m not even using any external microphone or earphone. That’s because of ZenFone Live’s two (2) highly sensitive smart amplifier microphones located at the lower part near the speaker and on the top part(please see photos above). These MEMS microphones, were expertly tuned and positioned to reduce noise to ensure that your voice is heard. It also uses Stereo Recording technique to capture better quality voice input.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewWhenever I want to go live on Facebook or share stories on Instagram, I can easily access the Beauty live app through the small icon popping on my ZenFone Live’s screen. See the pink icon on the side? Cool right?! It’s really a time saver because I don’t need to exit Instagram or FB just to go to the main Beauty Live App.

Livestream Beautifully: ASUS ZenFone Live ReviewSo far, so good. I really had fun using my ZenFone Live phone. I suggest you should get one too especially if you like doing a live stream or perhaps taking selfies so you can capture any moment and beautify yourself at the same time using the world’s first live streaming beautification technology. Imagine, for the price of PHP6,995, you get to fully enjoy the features of ZenFone Live.

HAPPY LIVE STREAMING!!! 🙂
