Linksys Introduces WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router

As a blogger, it is important that I always have a good internet connection. It keeps me updated with what’s happenening in the world, do and finish my online tasks and keeps me connected with my friends and family online. At home, we do have wifi connection, but of course it’s reach is just limited and so its features and capabilities. So I am thinking of  getting a new router that is more reliable, wide range and with lots of capabilities.

Linksys®, one of the country’s top brands in wireless networking to date, has made available to the Philippine market its WRT1900AC Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router, successor to the popular Linksys WRT54G WiFi router.

Designed to take home networking to the next level, the new WRT1900AC WiFi Router comes with the latest 802.11ac WiFi platform and beamforming technology, a powerful 1.2GHz dual-core ARM based processor, and introduces a four-antenna configuration – the first of its kind in the market – providing greater range and coverage and allowing router diversity through signal rates optimization for better data transmission to multiple users. The WRT1900AC is the first Linksys product to offer the Network Map feature that provides a complete view of all network-connected devices, which when used with Linksys’ exclusive Smart WiFi software allows for easy home network management, even while on the go. The just released WRT is also equipped with the latest in hardware, boasting of a unique dual eSATA/USB 2.0, a USB 3.0 port, and 128MB flash memory, all encased in a sleeker, more modern design inspired by the classic WRT54G router.

Linksys has also been recently developing a customizable open source firmware, collaborating with the OpenWRT community in making the WRT1900AC open source-capable for the market.
Mike Chen, Vice President of Product Management at Linksys, cites the WRT as “a cornerstone in the history of Wi-Fi and synonymous for many people in going wireless at home,” adding that Linksys has successfully sold more than 50 million units worldwide since the introduction of the first WRT model, and continues to do, even with today’s rapidly advancing wireless technology. The WRT has a cult status for many because of the open source aspect that made it so immensely popular. Our aim is to provide a robust and high performing hardware and software platform for open community developers to customize their WRT1900AC the way that they see fit. Linksys will continue to work with the open source community and our chipset partners to ensure the developers have the necessary tools to do so.
