The Philippines’ top esports athletes received a rousing send-off as they prepare to represent the country in some of the world’s biggest competitive gaming events, highlighting the growing recognition of esports as a platform for national pride, youth development, and international success.
The ceremony took place during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 17 Grand Finals, where fans gathered not only to witness championship action but also to celebrate the Filipino athletes who will carry the nation’s flag on the global stage.
Filipino Esports Representatives Recognized Before International Competitions
Honored during the event were the Philippine representatives competing at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 in Paris, France. Also recognized were members of the national delegation preparing for the 20th Asian Games Qualifiers in Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

Among the distinguished guests in attendance were representatives from the Philippine Esports Organization (PESO), the Games and Amusements Board (GAB), SEA Games gold medalist and mixed martial artist Mark “Mugen” Striegl, and Philippine Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, a longtime advocate for esports and gaming in the country.
The recognition ceremony underscored the continued rise of esports in the Philippines, where competitive gaming has evolved into a legitimate avenue for international achievement and career development.
Translated into English, Aquino highlighted how esports has become an equalizer that enables young Filipinos to pursue careers not only as professional players but also as streamers, content creators, and professionals in fields such as game development, production, and digital marketing.
He stressed that when Filipino athletes compete internationally, they are doing more than playing games—they are building careers and proving that Filipino talent can compete with the best in the world.
NAVI PH Eyes Another MWI Championship
Joining the MPL Philippines representatives bound for Paris was NAVI PH, the country’s representative for the MLBB Women’s Invitational.
The team earned its place at the global tournament after capturing the Athena Cup Season 2 title in Tagaytay. Returning to the Esports World Cup, NAVI PH will aim to secure its second MWI championship and further strengthen the Philippines’ reputation as a powerhouse in MLBB esports.
Together with the national delegation for the Asian Games Qualifiers, the athletes were formally recognized before a packed crowd, celebrating not only their achievements but also their role as ambassadors of Filipino excellence on the international stage.
As Filipino esports athletes continue to compete in prestigious regional and global tournaments, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of a rapidly growing gaming community.
Growing Institutional Recognition for Philippine Esports
The growing recognition of esports extends beyond tournaments and championships.
Earlier this year, the Philippine Senate welcomed MLBB esports athletes during a courtesy call following their victories at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the M7 World Championship in 2025.
The meeting marked another milestone for Philippine esports, reflecting increasing institutional support for competitive gaming within one of the world’s most successful MLBB regions.
MPL Philippines Strengthens Community Engagement
Beyond the competition, MPL Philippines Season 17 continued to evolve into a community-driven esports festival through new partnerships and fan-focused experiences.
One of the season’s biggest milestones was MPL Philippines’ partnership with Fairrie, a Gen Z jewelry and watch brand dedicated to gaming and esports. The collaboration introduced the league’s first-ever official MPL Philippines Championship Rings, adding a new tradition to the country’s premier MLBB competition.
During the Playoffs, fans enjoyed MPL Superfan City, an immersive experience featuring meet-and-greets, interactive activities, exclusive merchandise, and community events designed to bring supporters closer to their favorite teams and players.
MPL Philippines also partnered with Universal Music Group Philippines to launch the season’s official theme song, Palag Na ‘To, along with a merchandise collection inspired by the campaign’s message of courage and perseverance.
Sponsors Bring Fans Closer to the Action
Several partners also contributed to the festival atmosphere throughout the season.
Infinix hosted FANSIKLABAN, a community tournament where fans competed while representing their favorite MPL teams. Meanwhile, Smart continued its Battle Trips program, offering aspiring esports professionals educational sessions focused on esports broadcasting, journalism, event management, and content creation.
Returning partner Clear further enhanced the fan experience through interactive activities, giveaways, and on-site engagements.
As Philippine esports continues to gain momentum both locally and internationally, the recognition of these athletes serves as a reminder of how far the industry has come—and how much further it can go. With the Esports World Cup and Asian Games Qualifiers on the horizon, Filipino esports athletes now prepare to showcase their skills, passion, and world-class talent on the global stage once again.
